This dua is deeply relevant when you witness injustice, oppression, or harm being inflicted upon the vulnerable – whether children, the elderly, the weak, or anyone unable to defend themselves. It is particularly potent when you feel powerless to intervene directly, or when you are facing the perpetrators yourself and need strength. Recite it silently when observing such situations, or aloud if you are in direct confrontation and need Allah's protection and guidance.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity, focusing your heart on Allah's power and your reliance on Him. Visualize Allah's protection enveloping you and the vulnerable. Understand that 'placing Allah before them' means acknowledging His ultimate power over any oppressor and trusting in His justice, rather than confronting the enemy with your own might alone. Seek refuge in Him, acknowledging your human limitations and His infinite strength.

Source & Authentication

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Verily, Allah does not inflict his punishment upon a people until He sends a messenger to them or the time of their destruction is due. He said: 'Verily, Allah does not punish the people of the earth, but [He will do it when] He sends down His punishment upon them.' He said: 'Except that you are the 'Ummah which is weak and has no power, and they said: It is better for us to engage ourselves in struggle and to make effort. So, he said: 'O Allah, we place You in their breasts and we seek refuge in You from their evil.' It was said to him: 'O Allah's Apostle, in their throats?' He said: 'In their breasts.'
