Dua for Patience and Serenity When Trust is Broken

Patience & Sabr
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2722

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit, from a heart that does not fear You, from a soul that is never satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'ilmin la yanfa', wa min qalbin la yakhsha', wa min nafsin la tashba', wa min du'a'in la yusma'

When to Read

Recite this when you feel overwhelmed by disappointment, betrayal, or a sense of injustice. It's a powerful supplication to turn to when your trust has been broken, asking Allah to shield you from the inner turmoil that such experiences can bring.

How to Read

Utter this dua with sincerity and humility, focusing on the meaning of each phrase. Raising your hands slightly can be a gesture of seeking refuge. Remember that the true essence lies in the heart's conviction and earnest plea to Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a profound shield against internal struggles. Seeking refuge from useless knowledge protects you from arrogance and wasted effort. A heart that does not fear Allah can lead to heedlessness and sin, so seeking refuge from it is vital. A soul that is never satisfied can lead to constant dissatisfaction and greed, whereas seeking refuge from an unanswered prayer acknowledges our reliance on Allah's wisdom in His timing and response. It helps cultivate acceptance and contentment, even in difficult times, and reminds us that ultimate peace comes from Allah.
