โœฆ

Our Lord, pour upon us patience and cause us to die as Muslims [in submission to You].

Rabbana afrigh 'alayna sabraw wa tawaffana muslimeen

When to Read

This profound dua is particularly relevant during Ramadan, especially when facing the challenges of fasting, thirst, or hunger. Recite it when you feel your patience wavering, whether in the heat of the day or during long prayers at night. It's a perfect supplication to make after Salah, during Suhoor, or anytime you need a renewed sense of calm and steadfastness.

How to Read

Raise your hands as you would in any other dua. Focus your heart on the meaning of the words, acknowledging Allah as the ultimate source of strength and peace. Utter the words with sincerity, asking Allah to grant you the quality of patience and to keep you firmly upon Islam until the very end. Itโ€™s about connecting with the plea of the believers who faced trials with unwavering faith.

Virtues & Benefits

This ayah, recited by the magicians of Pharaoh when they saw the miracle of Musa (Moses) (peace be upon him), demonstrates the power of turning to Allah in times of immense pressure. It highlights that true patience (sabr) is a divine gift. By asking Allah to 'pour upon us patience,' we acknowledge our human limitations and seek His direct assistance. Furthermore, asking to be taken as Muslims underscores the ultimate goal: to live and die in a state of submission to Allah, with patience being a cornerstone of that submission.
