When to Read

This is a powerful supplication from the Quran, recited by Prophet Nuh (Noah) (peace be upon him) after the Ark came to rest. It's particularly meaningful to recite for oneself, one's parents and elders, and all believing family members and friends. It's a general supplication that can be made at any time, but especially after prayers or during times of reflection and remembrance.

How to Read

This dua is part of the teachings of Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) as revealed in the Quran. Recite it with sincerity, focusing on the meaning and the plea for forgiveness for yourself and your loved ones. Raise your hands in supplication as you do for other duas, if possible, and turn towards the Qiblah.

Virtues & Benefits

This ayah encapsulates a profound and comprehensive request for forgiveness, covering oneself, parents, household members, and the entire believing community. It teaches us the importance of intercessory dua โ€“ asking Allah for mercy not just for ourselves but for those we care about. For the elderly, who may worry about the spiritual state of their loved ones or seek continued blessings for them, this dua offers immense solace and a direct way to channel those concerns into a request to Allah.
