اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي بِحَلَالِكَ عَنْ حَرَامِكَ، وَأَغْنِنِي بِفَضْلِكَ عَمَّنْ سِوَاكَ

O Allah, suffice me with Your lawful provision instead of Your unlawful provision, and enrich me by Your grace, so that I may not need to ask anyone other than You.

Allahummakfini bihalalika 'an haramik, wa aghnini bifadlika 'amman siwak

When to Read

This dua is profoundly beneficial when you feel overwhelmed by the financial struggles of your elderly parents or when you see them facing debt. Recite it at any time, but particularly after your obligatory prayers (Salah), during the blessed hours like the last third of the night, or while making voluntary supplications (Dua). It's a powerful supplication to turn to when you observe their hardship and wish for Allah's intervention.

How to Read

With sincerity and deep conviction in Allah's power to answer. Raise your hands in supplication, as is the Sunnah. Face the Qiblah if possible. Begin by praising Allah and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Then, recite this dua with heartfelt emotion, focusing on the meaning and asking Allah to relieve your parents' burdens. It is also important to take practical steps to help your parents within your means, as Dua is most effective when coupled with action.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to his uncle Al-Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), is a comprehensive plea for financial well-being through lawful means. It seeks Allah's protection from falling into haram (unlawful) sources of income and asks for independence from relying on others, fostering dignity and contentment. By making dua for parents, we are fulfilling a significant aspect of our Islamic duty towards them, honoring their stage of life, and seeking Allah's immense reward for filial piety.
