O Allah, make the reward of all my deeds, the first of them and the last of them, the public and the secret, the reward of the earliest and the greatest and the most excellent hour. O Allah, let my enemies be targeted by my wealth, and do not target any of them with my body. O Allah, I ask You to fill my heart with Your fear, and to protect my chastity, and to make my provision abundant within Your provision, and to make my deeds accepted by You. And make my reward the reward of Ya'qub (peace be upon him), and loosen my tongue for Your remembrance, and fill my heart with Your light, and guide me with Your light, and protect me from the evil of Satan and the evil of all things, and open to me the doors of Your mercy, and have mercy on me with Your mercy, a vast mercy with which You make me content with my worldly life and my Hereafter. And make my hands busy with Your remembrance and following Your command, and grant me obedience to You and to Your Messenger, and protect me from the disgrace of this world and the Hereafter, and protect me from the punishment of the grave, and protect me from the punishment of the Fire.

Allahumma ij'al ujura a'mali kullaha awwalaha wa akhiraha wa 'alaniyatiha wa sirraha awwala as-sa'ati wa akbara as-sa'ati wa afdala as-sa'ati. This comprehensive dua is perfect for reciting at any time, but it holds particular significance when facing the challenges of old age. As one's physical strength may wane and life's trials continue, this supplication helps to cultivate inner resilience, contentment, and a positive spiritual outlook, preventing the common pitfalls of complaining and discontent.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a focused heart. It is beneficial to begin with seeking Allah's forgiveness and sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. As you recite, reflect on the meaning of each phrase, truly internalizing the requests for strength, guidance, protection, and acceptance from Allah (Subhanahu wa Ta'ala). Furthermore, the requests for protection from worldly and otherworldly punishments offer immense comfort and assurance for the hereafter.

Source & Authentication

Ibn Majah narrated from Ibn Abbas: He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach us this supplication as he taught us a Surah from the Quran, saying: "Seek refuge in Allah with these words: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min al-jahd al-shaaqa wa min dunyā 'adhāb wa 'adhāb al-qabr.' (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of suffering, and from a wretched life and the punishment of the Fire, and the punishment of the grave.)' And he used to teach us this supplication: 'Allahumma ij'al ujura a'mali kullaha awwalaha wa akhiraha wa 'alaniyatiha wa sirraha awwala as-sa'ati wa akbara as-sa'ati wa afdala as-sa'ati. (O Allah, make the reward of all my deeds, the first of them and the last of them, the public and the secret, the reward of the earliest and the greatest and the most excellent hour.
