اللَّهُمَّ تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ

O Allah, cause me to die a Muslim and join me with the righteous.

Allahumma tawaffani musliman wa alhiqni bis-salihin

When to Read

This dua is particularly poignant as one’s life approaches its twilight years. It can be recited regularly, especially during times of reflection, after prayers, or when thinking about the hereafter. It’s a prayer for a good end, regardless of age, but it carries special weight when contemplating the journey of old age.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and a humble heart. Imagine yourself in the presence of Allah, asking for His ultimate mercy. Focus on the meaning: a desire to remain a believer until the very end and to be reunited with the pious souls in Jannah. It's a personal supplication, so speak from your heart.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a profound hope for a death that aligns with our faith and an eternal reunion with those who lived righteously. It reflects the Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ own concern for his final moments and his community's. Dying as a Muslim, with faith intact, is the greatest blessing, and being among the righteous is a sign of Allah's acceptance. This prayer seeks both.
