The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'When one of you marries a woman, let him take her by the forelock and supplicate for the good and seek refuge in Allah from the evil, and then let him fulfill his desires. And if he were to speak that which is to be said upon the completion of the marriage contract, that would be good: Allahumma inni as'aluka khayraha wa khayra ma jabaltaha 'alayh, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma jabaltaha 'alayh.' (Sahih Muslim 1403a). Another narration states: 'If any one of you marries, he should hold the forelock of his wife and seek the blessings (of Allah) by saying: Allahumma inni as'aluka khayraha wa khayra ma fiha wa khayra ma arsaltani bihi, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha wa sharri ma fiha wa sharri ma arsaltani bihi (O Allah, I ask You for the good of her and the good of what is in her and the good of what You have made me to do with her, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of her and the evil of what is in her and the evil of what You have made me to do with her). (Sunan Abi Dawud 2160, graded Hasan by Al-Albani).
