رَبِّ هَبْ لِي مِنَ الصَّالِحِينَ
My Lord, grant me from the righteous.
Rabbi hab li minas-salihin
When to Read
This powerful supplication is recited by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was praying for righteous offspring. It's a perfect dua to make regularly when seeking to start a family, during the early stages of trying to conceive, and throughout the pregnancy. Make it a habit to recite it after your obligatory prayers, during times when dua is more likely to be accepted, and with sincere intention and trust in Allah.
How to Read
Recite this dua with full conviction and a humble heart. Picture in your mind the blessing of a healthy child and a smooth pregnancy. Imagine Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) making this earnest plea to Allah. It is recommended to place your hand on your abdomen (if applicable) while making this dua, especially when it is for yourself or your spouse. Ensure you are in a state of purity (wudu) if possible, facing the Qiblah, and raising your hands as was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in supplication. Most importantly, have unwavering faith that Allah, the Most Generous, hears and responds to the sincere prayers of His servants.
Virtues & Benefits
This ayah from Surah As-Saffat beautifully encapsulates the core desire for righteous progeny – children who will be a source of comfort, joy, and continued good in this life and the next. By reciting this dua, we are emulating the actions of a beloved Prophet and asking Allah for a blessing that extends beyond ourselves. Righteous children are a means of attaining Allah's pleasure, can pray for us after our passing, and are a continuation of good deeds. It’s a request not just for a child, but for a child who brings benefit to the Ummah and to the parents themselves, embodying the highest aspirations of parenthood in Islam.
