My Lord, grant me from among the righteous [offspring].

When to Read
This is the profound supplication made by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was blessed with Isma'il (peace be upon him). It's a beautiful prayer to recite during times of supplication, especially after marriage and when hoping for children, asking Allah to grant not just children, but righteous ones who will be a source of joy and good in this life and the next.
How to Read
Recite this sincere plea with conviction and full reliance on Allah. It's best recited with raised hands, a posture of humility and dependence, and with a heart that is present. Making this dua during the blessed times like the last third of the night, between the Adhan and Iqamah, or during sujood (prostration) can be particularly impactful.
Virtues & Benefits
By reciting this dua, we are following the example of our Prophets (peace be upon them all) and seeking the best for our lineage. Righteous offspring are a continuous charity for their parents, bringing blessings and good deeds even after the parents have departed. Allah swt mentions the reward of those who have righteous offspring: 'And those who believe and whose descendants follow them in faith, We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds.' (Surah At-Tur 52:21)
