How to Read
Recite with sincere intention and conviction. You can place your hand on your spouse's chest or shoulder while reciting, or recite it together. Blow gently onto yourselves after reciting. The sincerity of the heart is paramount in seeking Allah's protection.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking refuge in Allah (swt) is the ultimate shield against all forms of harm, including the unseen effects of the evil eye and envy (hasad). The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to seek refuge in Allah from various evils, and by extension, this includes the spiritual and psychological harm that can afflict a marriage.
Source & Authentication
While a single, specific dua for 'marriage protection from evil eye' isn't compiled into one exact phrasing in major hadith books, the principle of seeking refuge is foundational. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: 'Seek refuge in Allah's perfect words from the evil of what He created, three times in the morning and three times in the evening.' (Sahih Muslim 2708). He also taught: 'When one of you sees something in himself or his property that impresses him, let him supplicate for its blessing, for the evil eye is real.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 6306, Sahih Muslim 2144). The general seeking of refuge in Allah from all evil ('a'udhu billahi min ash-sharr') is a constant Sunnah.
