Marriage & Wedding
Hasan HadithMusnad Ahmad 3709

O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, that You have taught to any one of Your creation, that You have revealed in Your Book, or that You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the delight of my heart, and the light of my breast, and a banisher of my sadness and a reliever of my anxiety.

Allahumma inni 'abdika, ibnu 'abdika, ibnu amatika, nasiyatii biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka sammaita bihi nafsaka, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw anzaltahu fi kitabiika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilmil ghaibi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabii'a qalbii, wa nuura sadrii, wa jalaa'a huznii, wa dhahaaba hammii.

Source & Authentication

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: 'No person suffers any anxiety or grief, and then says: O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your command over me is ever effective. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, that You have taught to any one of Your creation, that You have revealed in Your Book, or that You have preserved in the knowledge of the unseen with You, that You make the Qur'an the delight of my heart, and the light of my breast, and a banisher of my sadness and a reliever of my anxiety, except that Allah will take away his anxiety and grief and replace them for him with relief.' It was said to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): 'Should we not learn these words?' He replied: 'Yes, indeed! It is not permissible for anyone who has heard them, at a time when he is in such a state, to not learn them.' (Ahmad bin Hanbal)
