The Quran itself highlights the prayers of prophets for righteous offspring, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) in the verse where this dua originates. Allah (SWT) says: "And who can be better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah; and he is a doer of good, and he follows the religion of Ibrahim (an upright one)? And Allah took Ibrahim as a Khalil (an intimate friend)." (Quran 4:125). The children who are righteous are those who worship Allah alone, obey their parents, and contribute positively to society.
