When to Read

This dua is profound for couples who have recently married and are hoping to start their family. It can be recited regularly, especially after obligatory prayers, during times of sincere supplication, and whenever a couple feels the desire to seek Allah's blessing for righteous offspring.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and full trust in Allah. It is best to raise your hands in supplication as you would during prayer. Ensure you are in a state of purity (wudu) if possible, and face the Qiblah. Reflect on the meaning of the dua: asking Allah for children who will be righteous and obedient, both in this life and the hereafter.

Virtues & Benefits

Seeking righteous children is a significant aspiration for a Muslim couple. Such children become a source of joy, comfort, and ongoing reward for their parents in this life and the next. The Quran itself highlights the prayers of prophets for righteous offspring, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him) in the verse where this dua originates. Allah (SWT) says: "And who can be better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah; and he is a doer of good, and he follows the religion of Ibrahim (an upright one)? And Allah took Ibrahim as a Khalil (an intimate friend)." (Quran 4:125). The children who are righteous are those who worship Allah alone, obey their parents, and contribute positively to society. Their good deeds can continue to benefit their parents even after their passing, according to many scholarly interpretations.
