When to Read

This dua is recited when attending a walimah, the wedding feast. It's a beautiful way to participate in the joy of the occasion and invoke Allah's blessings upon the newly married couple and their families. You can say it as you greet the couple, while eating the food, or even when giving a gift. The essence is to bring Allah's barakah (blessing and abundance) into their new life together.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a pure intention, focusing on the meaning of invoking Allah's blessings. Direct your supplication towards the couple, asking Allah to shower them with goodness in all aspects of their married life. It's also a reminder for us to seek Allah's blessing in our own gatherings and relationships.

Virtues & Benefits

Invoking barakah for others is a noble act. This dua specifically asks Allah to bless the couple's lifespan, their sustenance (rizq), and their descendants (ansab). By seeking blessings for them, we participate in the spiritual strengthening of the community and uphold the Sunnah of seeking good for our brothers and sisters in faith. It fosters a spirit of mutual support and love within the Ummah.

Source & Authentication

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "When the Prophet (peace be upon him) went to visit someone or was visited by someone, he would say: 'Allahumma barik lahum fi a'marihim wa fi arzaqihim wa fi ansabihim' (O Allah, bless them in their lives, their provisions, and their lineage). " (Narrated by Abu Ya'la, Al-Mu'jam Al-Awsat of Tabarani, and Musnad Ahmad. The hadith has been authenticated as Hasan by some scholars due to its various supporting chains). This narration, while specifically mentioning visiting or being visited, encapsulates the spirit of invoking blessings for Muslims, which extends beautifully to the significant occasion of a wedding and its feast.
