O Allah, make my spouse grateful for Your blessings, content with Your bounty, pleased with Your decree, and help him/her to obey You, thank You, and worship You well.
Allahumma aj'al zawji/zawjati shakirran li ni'amika, qani'an bi fadlika, radiyan bi qada'ika, wa a'inhu/a'inha 'ala ta'atika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika.
When to Read
This dua can be made at any time, but it's particularly beneficial to recite it during the night (qiyam al-layl) when supplications are believed to be more readily accepted, or after any obligatory prayer. You can also make it during times of reflection or when you notice a lack of gratitude or contentment in your spouse's attitude.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and focus. Raise your hands as you would in any supplication. Visualize your spouse embodying the qualities of gratitude and contentment. You can say it silently or aloud, especially when you are alone with your spouse or in your personal worship.
Virtues & Benefits
Cultivating gratitude and contentment in a marriage is a cornerstone of a happy and peaceful life, as emphasized in the Quran. The Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ said: 'Looking at those who are superior to you in worldly matters brings to mind the Day of Resurrection, but looking at those who are inferior to you in worldly matters makes one grateful for Allah's blessings.' (Sahih Muslim 2963). This dua aims to foster that positive perspective within your spouse, leading to less comparison, more appreciation, and a stronger bond built on shared blessings. It also helps to fulfill the rights spouses have over each other, encouraging mutual support in worship and devotion.
