When to Read
This beautiful dua is traditionally recited by the family and friends of the engaged couple during the engagement ceremony or at any point during the engagement period. It can be recited individually by the couple themselves, or by anyone wishing well for them. It's a way of seeking Allah's blessings on their impending union and asking for guidance and ease throughout this significant time.
How to Read
Recite with sincerity and focus, directing your supplication to Allah (SWT). Imagine the couple's future together and ask Allah to fill it with His mercy, love, and barakah (blessings). Raising your hands is a common practice when making dua, though not strictly necessary for this specific supplication.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates the essence of seeking divine favor for a marriage. By asking for Allah's blessings ('barakah'), we are asking for an abundance of good, contentment, and divine protection over the couple and their relationship. Uniting them 'in goodness' is a profound request, seeking not just the act of marriage but a union built on piety, mutual respect, and shared well-being, which are the foundations of a truly blessed Islamic marriage. It sets a positive spiritual tone for the journey ahead.

Narrated Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): When a man married a slave-girl, the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say to him: 'May Allah bless the bride-groom for you, and bless the bride for you, and may He unite you both in goodness.' (Sunan Abi Dawud 3092). While the hadith mentions a specific context, the wording is general and widely applicable for any marriage, including the engagement period leading up to it.
