O Allah, help me in remembering You, thanking You, and worshipping You in the best manner. O Allah, make my spouse a helper for me in obeying You and drawing near to You, and make him/her a support for me in seeking beneficial knowledge. And help us both in implementing what we learn, and forgive us and have mercy upon us.
Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatik. Allahumm-aj'al zawji 'awnan li 'ala ta'atika wa qurbik, waj'alhu sanadan li fi talab al-'ilm an-naf'i, wa a'inna jami'an 'ala tatbeeqi ma nata'allamuh, waghfir lana warhamna.
When to Read
This dua is perfect to recite after any obligatory prayer (Salat) or during times when you feel you need extra spiritual support in your pursuit of knowledge. It's particularly beneficial to say it when you and your spouse are discussing your aspirations for learning or when you both embark on a new learning endeavor together. You can also make it a regular part of your personal supplications, asking Allah to bless your marriage with mutual support in seeking knowledge.
How to Read
Recite with sincerity and conviction, facing the Qiblah if possible. Raise your hands in supplication as the Prophet Muhammad ๏ทบ taught us. Focus on the meaning of the words and visualize your spouse being a source of encouragement and assistance in your studies. It is also beautiful to make this dua *together* with your spouse, fostering a shared commitment to spiritual and intellectual growth.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking knowledge is a highly praised act in Islam, and having a supportive spouse in this journey amplifies the blessings. This dua helps foster a marital bond built on shared goals of pleasing Allah and growing spiritually. It reminds us that our spouses are a trust from Allah, meant to be partners in all aspects of life, including striving for beneficial knowledge that brings us closer to our Creator and benefits our families and communities. The Prophet ๏ทบ said: 'When a person dies, their deeds come to an end except for three: ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), beneficial knowledge (that others benefit from), or a righteous child who supplicates for them.' (Sahih Muslim 1631). A spouse who supports knowledge-seeking contributes to this ongoing reward.
