اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provisions, and accepted deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This is a profound dua that a husband can make at any time, especially when reflecting on his responsibilities as a provider. It's particularly effective after the obligatory prayers (Salah) or during the blessed times like the last third of the night when Allah descends to the lowest heaven. Making it a regular part of your morning or evening supplications can also infuse your efforts with barakah (blessings).
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and full conviction in Allah's ability to grant your requests. Raise your hands as you make dua, facing the Qiblah if possible, and begin by praising Allah and sending Salawat upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Understand the meaning of each part: 'beneficial knowledge' to guide your decisions, 'pure provisions' to ensure your earnings are lawful and blessed, and 'accepted deeds' to ensure your efforts are pleasing to Allah and contribute positively to your family's well-being. After reciting, gently wipe your face with your hands.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication, taught by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) when she asked him what she should say in the morning, encompasses seeking Allah's aid in the three crucial areas of a Muslim's life: knowledge, sustenance, and actions. Seeking 'beneficial knowledge' helps one make sound decisions in managing finances and providing for the family. Asking for 'pure provisions' (rizqan tayyiban) emphasizes the importance of earning halal and avoiding anything unlawful, which brings peace and blessings to the home. 'Accepted deeds' ensures that the hard work put into providing is acknowledged and rewarded by Allah, not just in this life but also in the Hereafter.
