O Allah, guide me to the best of character, for no one can guide to the best of it except You. And turn me away from bad character, for no one can turn away from bad character except You.
Allahumma ihdini li ahsanil akhlaq, la yahdi li ahsaniha illa Anta, wasrif 'anni sayyi'aha, la yasrifu 'anni sayyi'aha illa Anta.
When to Read

It's a powerful supplication to ask Allah for the best character, which is the foundation of a just and loving leadership within the family. Make it a habit during your daily prayers, particularly after the obligatory ones, and also when you find quiet moments for personal supplication.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a firm intention to embody the qualities of good character. Raise your hands in supplication as you would during prayer, facing the Qiblah if possible. Understand the meaning deeply: you are asking the One who has perfect knowledge and control over all matters to shape your character and protect you from its ills. This isn't just a set of words; it's a request for divine assistance in becoming the best version of yourself for your spouse and future family.
Virtues & Benefits
Seeking Allah's guidance for good character is paramount for a groom. Justice ('adl) in leadership requires integrity, patience, kindness, and wisdom – all facets of excellent character. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself exemplified these traits, and this dua is a direct imitation of his supplication. By asking Allah for the best character, you are essentially asking for the tools to fulfill your responsibilities as a husband and potential father. Good character ensures that you will lead with compassion, fairness, and understanding, creating a loving and stable environment for your family. As Allah says, 'And live with them [wives] honorably' (An-Nisa 4:19), and good character is the bedrock of honorable living.
