Virtues & Benefits
This verse, revealed to Prophet Sulaiman (peace be upon him), teaches us the essence of recognizing Allah's blessings and seeking His aid in righteous deeds. By asking to be enabled to thank Allah for His favors on ourselves and our parents, we acknowledge their role and supplicate for the strength to honor them. The request to 'do righteousness of which You will approve' is a comprehensive plea for guidance in all our actions, including those that pertain to family well-being. Finally, seeking admission into the ranks of the 'righteous servants' is the ultimate aspiration, encompassing piety, good character, and devotion to Allah and His creation. Reciting this during Tahajjud amplifies the sincerity and the potential for acceptance, as night prayer is a time when Allah descends to the lowest heaven, answering the calls of His servants.
