O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, I seek refuge in You from incapacity and laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the overwhelming of debt and the subjugation of men.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijal.

Virtues & Benefits
This dua encapsulates seeking refuge from some of the most debilitating inner states. Anxiety (hamm) and sorrow (hazan) can steal our peace and hinder our worship. Incapacity ('ajz) and laziness (kasal) prevent us from fulfilling our duties. Cowardice (jubn) and stinginess (buhl) weaken our character and generosity. Overwhelming debt (ghalabatud-dayn) and the subjugation of men (qahrur-rijal) are worldly pressures that can weigh heavily on the soul. By reciting this, we actively enlist Allah's protection against these hindrances, allowing for a more focused and peaceful Tahajjud experience, and ultimately, a stronger connection with our Creator.
