اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This dua is particularly potent when recited during the blessed hours of Tahajjud, the night prayer. As you stand before Allah, dedicating a portion of the night to Him, you can supplicate for mastery in your chosen craft or skill, asking that your efforts be beneficial, your sustenance pure, and your actions accepted by Him. It can be recited after completing your Tahajjud prayer, or even incorporated into your supplications during the prostration (sujood) of your prayer.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincere intention and conviction, focusing on your desire for excellence and acceptance in your endeavors. It is recommended to raise your hands as you make dua, following the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Begin by praising Allah and sending salutations upon the Prophet ﷺ. Then, make this specific supplication, followed by any other duas you wish to make. Remember that the heart of the supplicant should be attentive and present.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua encompasses three vital aspects for success in any pursuit: beneficial knowledge ('ilman naafi'an) which allows you to understand and excel in your craft; good provision (rizqan tayyiban) which ensures your livelihood is pure and blessed, supporting your efforts; and accepted deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) which means your hard work and dedication are recognized and rewarded by Allah, both in this life and the hereafter. When offered during Tahajjud, the spiritual elevation and proximity to Allah during this time amplify the potential for these requests to be granted.

‘Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa reported: The Prophet ﷺ said: ‘Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa reported: The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Whoever asks Allah for health from the dawn of the day until the evening, Allah will grant him health, and whoever asks Allah for forgiveness from the dawn of the day until the evening, Allah will forgive him." (This hadith is generally understood in context of supplication and asking Allah for things). The specific wording "Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan" is attributed to the Prophet ﷺ and taught as a comprehensive supplication for seeking blessings in knowledge, sustenance, and actions, particularly after the Fajr prayer, but its essence is applicable during the blessed hours of night worship as well.
