اللَّهُمَّ زِدْنِي حُبًّا لِنَبِيِّكَ مُحَمَّدٍ ﷺ وَأَعِنِّي عَلَى قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ

O Allah, increase my love for Your Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and help me in establishing the night prayer.

Allahumma zidni hubban liNabiyyika Muhammadin ﷺ wa a'inni 'ala qiyam al-layl

When to Read

This dua is best recited during Tahajjud (the night prayer) or just after it, in the blessed hours of the night when supplication is highly esteemed. It can also be recited anytime one feels the need to deepen their connection with the Prophet ﷺ.

How to Read

Recite with sincerity and a focused heart. Raise your hands in supplication as you would during prayer. Imagine yourself standing before the Prophet ﷺ and speak to Allah with the earnestness of wanting to be closer to His Messenger. Take a moment to reflect on the blessings the Prophet ﷺ brought to humanity and how much he sacrificed for our sake.

Virtues & Benefits

Seeking Allah's help to increase our love for the Prophet ﷺ is a profound act. The Quran states: 'Say, [O Muhammad], "If you should love Allah, then follow me, [so] Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful."' (Surah Al-Imran 3:31). This ayah highlights the direct link between following the Prophet ﷺ and gaining Allah's love. Tahajjud prayer itself is highly virtuous, with the Quran describing the believers as those 'who are patient, true, obedient, spenders in the cause of Allah, and who pray for forgiveness before dawn.' (Surah Al-Imran 3:17). By combining the dua with Tahajjud, we are actively striving for Allah's pleasure, seeking to embody the qualities of the believers, and drawing nearer to the Prophet ﷺ by emulating his devotion.
