Seeking Clarity: Dua for a New Perspective

New Beginnings
Sahih HadithSunan Ibn Majah 3845

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This dua is excellent to recite when you feel stuck in a situation, when facing a complex problem, or when you simply desire a fresh outlook on life. It's particularly fitting at the start of a new day, a new project, or a new phase in your life where you need divine guidance to navigate with wisdom.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a focused heart. Begin with the intention of seeking Allah's help to open your mind and grant you understanding. You can raise your hands, as is customary for supplication. It's beneficial to repeat it multiple times, reflecting on each word and its meaning. Ideally, recite it after Fajr prayer, as the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ recommended seeking beneficial knowledge and good provision in the morning.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful supplication, taught by our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, encompasses seeking three essential things for a balanced and fulfilling life: beneficial knowledge (to understand the world and our purpose), good provision (for sustenance and well-being), and acceptable deeds (to ensure our worship and actions are pleasing to Allah). By asking for these, we are essentially requesting clarity, guidance, and the ability to act in ways that bring us closer to our Creator, which inherently leads to new perspectives and a deeper understanding of our circumstances.
