The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught this dua for when one leaves their home. The Companion Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, 'When a person goes out of his house, he should say: Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallahi, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah, and there is no might nor power except with Allah).' This narration is considered Sahih.
