New Beginnings
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 1474

O Allah, bless me in my family and bless them in me. O Allah, grant me their companionship and grant them my companionship. O Allah, unite us with goodness whenever You unite us, and separate us with goodness whenever You separate us.

Allahumma barik li fi ahli wa barik lahum fiyya. Allahumma-rzukni wifāqahum warzuqhum wifāqi. Allahumma-jma' baynana ma jama'ta bi khairin, wa farriq baynana idha farraqta ila khairin.

It asks for Allah's 'barakah' (blessing, increase, abundance) in mutual well-being, acknowledging that true success lies in Allah's decree. It also requests harmony and understanding between partners, and crucially, seeks a righteous separation if that is Allah's plan, ensuring even separation is met with goodness and wisdom. This dua fosters a reliance on Allah for all aspects of the relationship, from its beginning to its potential end.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abu Hurairah: When one of you marries, he should say: 'O Allah, bless me in my wife and bless her in me. O Allah, grant me companionship with her and grant her companionship with me. O Allah, provide for us and provide for her. O Allah, unite us with goodness whenever You unite us, and separate us with goodness whenever You separate us.' And when he buys a camel, he should take hold of its hump and invoke the name of Allah and say: 'O Allah, grant me goodness and the goodness of what I have been commanded, and seek refuge in Thee from evil and the evil of what I have been commanded.' And when he buys a camel, he should take hold of its hump and invoke the name of Allah and say: 'O Allah, grant me goodness and the goodness of what I have been commanded, and seek refuge in Thee from evil and the evil of what I have been commanded.'
