Ya Muqallibal-quloob, thabbit qalbi 'ala deenik

When to Read

This profoundly important dua is one we should all make a regular part of our daily supplications. It's especially vital when you're embarking on a new phase of life, feeling a spiritual shift, or making a conscious decision to strengthen your faith and devotion. If you feel your iman wavering, or if you're navigating temptations and trials, recite this with sincerity. It's also a beautiful prayer to make during times of ease, acknowledging that all hearts are in Allah's Hands and seeking His continuous protection.

How to Read

Recite this dua with a deep sense of awareness of its meaning. Reflect on the power of Allah, the 'Turner of Hearts,' and acknowledge your own human fragility. When you say 'thabbit qalbi,' truly mean it – ask Allah to plant your heart firmly on His path, removing any inclination towards error or deviation. Accompany this verbal plea with sincere effort in your actions, striving to learn, practice, and live by the teachings of Islam. Remember, dua is a conversation, not just a recitation, so speak to Allah with hope and humility.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself, despite being the most guided of creation, frequently made this dua. This teaches us that firmness upon the religion is not guaranteed, and it's something we must constantly seek from Allah. By making this dua, you are: 1. **Seeking Divine Protection**: Acknowledging that only Allah can keep our hearts steadfast amidst the trials and uncertainties of life. 2. **Emulating the Prophet's Sunnah**: Following the practice of our beloved Prophet ﷺ, which itself is a tremendous act of worship and a means of drawing closer to Allah. 3. **Achieving Inner Peace**: Knowing that your heart's direction is ultimately in Allah's hands brings a sense of peace and reliance on His wisdom and mercy. 4. **Guard Against Misguidance**: This dua is a powerful shield against falling into error, doubt, or deviation, ensuring that your new chapter of faith remains firmly rooted in truth.

Source & Authentication

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Prophet ﷺ used to often say: 'O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion.' So I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you say this often! Are you afraid?' He said: 'Yes. Indeed, there is no heart except that it is between two of the Fingers of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime. If He wills, He makes it firm, and if He wills, He deviates it.'
