Dua for Safety and Goodness When Moving to a New Place

New Beginnings
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 3576

In the name of Allah. The earth with its quarters, the king with his grasp, creation with its numbers, and the affair with its wisdom all vanish. O Allah, I ask You for its goodness, the goodness of its people, and the goodness of all that is in it. And I seek refuge in You from its evil, the evil of its people, and the evil of all that is in it, and from the evil of themselves and the evil of what has preceded in it.

Bismillah, tazulu al-ardu birub'iha, wa yazulu al-maliku biqabdatihi, wa yazulu al-khalqu bi'adadihim, wa yazulu al-amru bihikmatihi. Allahumma inni as'aluka khayraha, wa khayra ahliha, wa khayra ma fiha, wa a'udhu bika min sharriha, wa sharri ahliha, wa sharri ma fiha, wa min sharri anfushim, wa sharri ma sabaqa fiha.

Salim reported: When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) went for battle, he would say: 'Allah is the Greatest. O Allah, I seek from Thee goodness and the goodness of this wind, and the goodness of what is in it, and I seek refuge from evil and the evil of this wind and the evil of what is in it. And I seek refuge in Allah from the evil of these things and the evil of what has been sent down. And when Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) returned, he would say: 'We return repenting, worshipping, and praising our Lord. We do not return making any evil or ingratitude to our Lord.' This hadith has also been narrated on the authority of Salim through another chain of transmitters.
