O Allah, rectify my religion for me, which is the safeguard of my affairs, and rectify my worldly life for me, in which is my livelihood, and rectify my Hereafter for me, to which is my return. Make life a source of increase for me in every good, and make death a rest for me from every evil.
Allahumma aslih li diniyal-ladhi huwa 'ismatu amri, wa aslih li dunyaya-llati fiha ma'ashi, wa aslih li akhiratiyal-lati fiha ma'adi, waj'alil-hayata ziyadatan li fi kulli khair, waj'alil-mawta rahatan li min kulli sharr.
When to Read
We often find ourselves at crossroads, desiring to shed old habits and cultivate new, healthier ones. This powerful dua, taught by the Prophet ﷺ, is perfect for any moment you're seeking a fresh start, whether it's embracing a healthier lifestyle, dedicating more time to worship, improving your relationships, or simply wanting to become a better Muslim overall. Recite it sincerely when you feel the urge for change, when facing challenges in establishing new routines, or as a consistent daily supplication for continuous improvement in all aspects of your life.
How to Read
As with all duas, sincerity is key. Raise your hands, acknowledge Allah's boundless power, and truly pour out your heart, understanding the profound meanings of each phrase. You can recite this dua at any time, but particularly consider it during your post-Salah supplications, in the last third of the night (Qiyam al-Layl), or during moments of personal reflection and intention-setting. Strive to embody the change you're asking for; dua is a catalyst for action, not a substitute.
Virtues & Benefits
This isn't just a prayer for superficial change; it's a comprehensive plea for **holistic rectification**. When you recite this dua, you're asking Allah to: 1. **Rectify your religion:** This is the bedrock. All true positive change stems from strengthening our connection with Allah and adhering to His commands. A rectified religion ensures our actions are guided by divine wisdom, making our new habits truly beneficial. 2. **Rectify your worldly life:** We seek success and barakah in our daily existence, our work, our health, and our relationships. This aspect ensures that our worldly endeavors are not only productive but also blessed. 3. **Rectify your Hereafter:** Our ultimate goal is the pleasure of Allah and Jannah. This part of the dua keeps our focus on the eternal, ensuring our efforts in this life contribute to our eternal success. 4. **Make life an increase in good:** This is the heart of embracing a new, better lifestyle. We're asking for every day to add to our good deeds, our knowledge, our positive impact, and our spiritual growth. 5. **Make death a rest from evil:** This beautifully balances our pursuit of good with a plea for protection from harmful influences and a peaceful end, free from regret. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ himself taught us this profound supplication, as narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): > **Arabic:** كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَدْعُو بِهَذِهِ الدَّعَوَاتِ " اللَّهُمَّ أَصْلِحْ لِي دِينِي الَّذِي هُوَ عِصْمَةُ أَمْرِي وَأَصْلِحْ لِي دُنْيَايَ الَّتِي فِيهَا مَعَاشِي وَأَصْلِحْ لِي آخِرَتِي الَّتِي فِيهَا مَعَادِي وَاجْعَلِ الْحَيَاةَ زِيَادَةً لِي فِي كُلِّ خَيْرٍ وَاجْعَلِ الْمَوْتَ رَاحَةً لِي مِنْ كُلِّ شَرٍّ > > **Translation:** The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to supplicate with these words: "O Allah, rectify my religion for me, which is the safeguard of my affairs, and rectify my worldly life for me, in which is my livelihood, and rectify my Hereafter for me, to which is my return. Make life a source of increase for me in every good, and make death a rest for me from every evil." > > **Transliteration:** *Kaana Rasulullahi ﷺ yad'oo bihadhihad-da'awat: "Allahumma aslih li diniyal-ladhi huwa 'ismatu amri, wa aslih li dunyaya-llati fiha ma'ashi, wa aslih li akhiratiyal-lati fiha ma'adi, waj'alil-hayata ziyadatan li fi kulli khair, waj'alil-mawta rahatan li min kulli sharr."* > > — Sahih Muslim 2720
