I seek Allah's perfect words for your protection from every devil and every beast, and from every evil eye.
U'ee'dhukabi-kalimatillahi-t-tammati, min kulli shaytanin wa hāmmatin, wa min kulli 'aynin lāmmatin.
When to Read
This dua is traditionally recited for a newborn, particularly upon seeing them for the first time or on the seventh day (Aqiqah day) for protection. It can also be recited whenever you feel a need to invoke Allah's shield over your child, whether they are sick, facing challenges, or simply as a regular supplication for their well-being.
How to Read
This dua is typically recited by the parent or guardian, gently blowing (with or without saliva) onto the child after reciting. Place your hand on the child's head or forehead while reciting. The intention is to earnestly seek Allah's ultimate protection through His powerful words.
Virtues & Benefits
Reciting this dua is a beautiful way to actively involve Allah in your child's life from the very beginning. It embodies the prophetic guidance for safeguarding offspring against unseen harms and the envy of the 'evil eye'. It reminds us that true security and well-being come solely from our Creator.
Source & Authentication
Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reported: The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to seek refuge for Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn, saying: 'أُعِيذُكُمَا بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ، مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ، وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ' (U'ee'dhukumā bi-kalimatillahi-t-tāmmah, min kulli shaytanin wa hāmmatin, wa min kulli 'aynin lāmmatin.) Then he would say: 'Your father (meaning Ibrahim) used to seek refuge with Allah for Isma'il and Ishaq with these very words.'
