This supplication encapsulates the profound need for Allah's protection against unseen evils and malevolent influences. By seeking refuge in Allah's perfect words, we acknowledge His ultimate power and sovereignty. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua for his grandsons, Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them), highlighting its importance and effectiveness in safeguarding them from harm, whether from jinn (devils), pests ('hammah'), or the evil eye ('ain lammah'). It instills a sense of security and reliance on the Creator from infancy.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to seek refuge for Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them) saying: 'I seek refuge for you both in the perfect words of Allah from every devil and every beast, and from every evil eye.' Then he would say: 'Your father (Ibrahim) used to seek refuge with Allah for Ismail and Ishaq with these same words.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 3308)
