Daily Morning Routine
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 712

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This is a profound dua the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would recite every morning after waking up. It sets a powerful intention for the day, asking Allah for three essential things: knowledge that benefits us, sustenance that is pure and lawful, and actions that are accepted by Him. Reciting this as part of your morning routine, perhaps right after Fajr prayer or before starting your daily tasks, aligns your day with seeking Allah's pleasure and guidance.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a focused heart, truly contemplating the meaning of each request. Imagine your day unfolding with beneficial knowledge gained, pure provision earned, and deeds that are pleasing to Allah. The simple, direct nature of the dua makes it easy to remember and integrate into your daily life.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encapsulates a holistic approach to a productive and blessed day. * **Beneficial Knowledge ('ilman nafi'an):** This isn't just about academic learning; it's about knowledge that guides us, increases our understanding of Islam, and helps us act righteously. * **Good Provision (rizqan tayyiban):** This refers to lawful, wholesome, and abundant sustenance that Allah bestows upon us, which is a means of strength and a blessing in our lives. * **Accepted Deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan):** This is perhaps the most crucial part. We can strive to do good deeds, but their acceptance by Allah depends on His mercy and our sincerity, following the Sunnah, and ensuring the deeds are free from showing off or any impurity. This dua directly asks for that acceptance, making our efforts truly count.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by our mother Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not leave these words upon waking up or sleeping: 'O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provision, and accepted deeds. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hearing that does not benefit, from the heart that does not fear, from the soul that is not satisfied, and from the dua that is not answered.' (Sahih Muslim 712). While the specific dua requested is part of a longer supplication, this segment focuses on the morning intention for good deeds, knowledge, and provision.
