The pursuit of beneficial knowledge and good deeds naturally equips you with the clarity and conviction needed to speak truth and stand for justice.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a clear intention. It's best said with hands raised slightly, as if making a personal request to Allah. Focus on the meaning of each word: the desire for knowledge that uplifts, provision that is pure, and actions that are pleasing to our Creator. This mindful recitation prepares your heart and mind for the day ahead, making you more receptive to Allah's guidance in how you interact with others and uphold what is right.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication, when made sincerely in the morning, primes the believer to seek and act upon what is right. Beneficial knowledge (ʿilman nāfiʿan) often includes understanding the difference between truth and falsehood, and the principles of justice. Good provision (rizqan ṭayyiban) means earning wealth and sustenance that is lawful and pure, which can give one the independence and stability to speak out without fear of losing their livelihood. And asking for accepted deeds (ʿamalan mutaqabbalan) means seeking Allah's favor for our actions to be counted, inspiring us to act with integrity and courage, knowing our efforts are seen and valued by Allah.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say, when he performed the morning prayer, whilst supplicating: 'O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, and sustenance that is pure, and deeds that are accepted.' (Sunan Ibn Majah 925). This hadith is graded Hasan by some scholars.
