O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my hearing, from the evil of my sight, from the evil of my tongue, from the evil of my heart, and from the evil of my fluid.
Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min sharri sam'i, wa min sharri basari, wa min sharri lisani, wa min sharri qalbi, wa min sharri maniyyi.
When to Read
This dua is recited in the morning, typically after the Fajr prayer as part of the Prophet's ﷺ established remembrance (dhikr) and supplications upon waking.
How to Read

Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive supplication seeks protection from various potential harms that can afflict us. Specifically, seeking refuge from the 'evil of the tongue' is crucial. The tongue, if not guarded, can lead to backbiting, slander, gossip, harsh words, and untruths, all of which carry severe consequences in this life and the next. By reciting this, we actively ask Allah to safeguard our speech and prevent us from causing harm or distress to others through our words, and to prevent harm coming to us through the words of others. The inclusion of other senses and the heart highlights a holistic approach to seeking Allah's protection against all potential spiritual and ethical dangers.
