Daily Morning Routine
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 5009

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللَّهِ، وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ

In the name of Allah, I rely on Allah. There is no might nor power except with Allah.

Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah

When to Read

This powerful declaration is recited immediately after waking up, before one even puts their feet on the ground. It sets the tone for the entire day, imbuing your morning with reliance on Allah and a proactive, optimistic outlook.

How to Read

Recite this with full sincerity and conviction. As you say 'Bismillah,' acknowledge Allah's name as the starting point for all your actions. When you utter 'tawakkaltu 'alallah,' consciously place your trust in Him. The phrase 'wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' affirms that all ability and strength come solely from Allah, fostering humility and eliminating arrogance.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is not just a morning salutation; it's a shield and a source of immense strength. When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this to his companions, he assured them that they would be protected, sufficed, and guided. Imagine stepping into your day knowing you have divine protection and provision – this is the optimism this dua cultivates. It's a declaration that no matter what challenges arise, your ultimate source of support is Allah, which naturally fosters a positive and hopeful spirit.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "When a person leaves his house and says: 'Bismillahi, tawakkaltu 'alallah, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa billah,' it will be said to him: 'You have been sufficed, defended, and guided.' So the devil will go away from him. Another devil will say to him: 'How can you deal with a person whom he has been sufficed, defended, and guided?'
