Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 777

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.

O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, provision that is good and pure, and deeds that are acceptable.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

It's a personal supplication, so feel free to raise your hands slightly, though it's not a strict requirement for this specific dua. The intention and focus are key.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua is a powerful way to start the day with a focus on spiritual and worldly well-being. Asking for 'beneficial knowledge' directs our minds towards learning and understanding that which benefits us in this life and the next. Seeking 'good and pure provision' reminds us to be mindful of the source and nature of our sustenance. Most importantly, asking for 'acceptable deeds' is a profound request, as we can strive and toil, but only Allah accepts our efforts. This can cultivate immense gratitude and humility, reducing frustration by reminding us that our success is ultimately from Him and dependent on His acceptance.

Source & Authentication

‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) did not sleep in the night or wake up in it but that he would recite the following: Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan. (O Allah, I ask You for knowledge that is beneficial, provision that is good and pure, and deeds that are acceptable.) When he recited this, he would sit up and say: Praise be to Allah and His blessings. Praise be to Allah in all circumstances. He would praise Allah the Mighty and Exalted, and He would seek His forgiveness.
