اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan
When to Read
This beautiful supplication is recommended to be recited after the Fajr (dawn) prayer, right at the beginning of your day. It's a powerful way to set your intention and ask Allah for the strength and guidance needed to navigate the day ahead, especially when facing potential temptations.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and presence of mind after completing your Fajr prayer. Face the Qiblah, raise your hands (as is customary for supplication), and utter these words with conviction, truly believing in Allah's ability to grant your request. It's best to say it in Arabic as taught by the Prophet ﷺ, but if that's difficult, focus on understanding the meaning and conveying your sincere request.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is comprehensive, seeking three essential pillars for a successful life and a strong spiritual state. Beneficial knowledge (ilm nafi') guides us aright. Goodly provision (rizqan tayyiban) ensures our sustenance is pure and pleasing to Allah, preventing the temptations that arise from ill-gotten gains. Most importantly, acceptable deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) are those that are performed sincerely for Allah's sake and in accordance with His commands, which is the ultimate shield against falling into temptation. By asking for these, we equip ourselves with the tools to resist allurements that distract from our purpose.

Narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): That every morning, after the Fajr prayer, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would say: اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا 'O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.'
