اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.
O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provisions, and acceptable deeds.
Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.
When to Read
This beautiful dua is specifically recommended to be recited after the Fajr (dawn) prayer. Reciting it in the morning, as the day begins and before family interactions commence, sets a powerful intention for mindfulness. It's a moment to connect with Allah, seeking His assistance to make our day, including our time with loved ones, purposeful and pleasing to Him.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a focused heart after you have completed your Fajr prayer. Imagine the words flowing from your heart, asking Allah to grant you awareness, good sustenance, and the ability to perform actions that He accepts. It’s a personal supplication, so you can raise your hands if you wish, though it’s not a strict requirement for this specific dua. The key is the earnestness of your request.
Virtues & Benefits
This supplication encompasses three vital aspects for a well-rounded and spiritually fulfilling life. Asking for 'beneficial knowledge' means seeking knowledge that not only informs but also guides and transforms us, enabling us to understand our deen better and act upon it. 'Good provisions' (rizqan tayyiban) goes beyond just wealth; it encompasses all the good things Allah provides – health, peace, righteous family, and lawful earnings. Finally, asking for 'acceptable deeds' (amalan mutaqabbalan) is the ultimate goal; we strive to do acts of worship and good deeds, but true success lies in them being accepted by Allah. When you make this dua in the morning, you are essentially asking Allah to help you be present and mindful throughout your day, using the knowledge, provision, and actions He grants you for His pleasure, which naturally extends to how you interact with your family.

Narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), she said: Whenever the Prophet (peace be upon him) would greet the morning, he would say: O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, good provisions, and acceptable deeds. And when he would greet the evening, he would say the like of that.
