The Mighty Dhikr: Glorifying Allah 100 Times Daily

Morning Adhkar
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2696

سُبْحَانَ اللهِ وَالْحَمْدُ للهِ وَلاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللهُ وَاللهُ أَكْبَرُ

Glory be to Allah, and all praise is for Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest.

SubhanAllah walhamdulillah wa la ilaha illallah wallahu akbar

When to Read

This powerful remembrance is recommended to be recited 100 times each day. While the hadith mentions it after reciting Surat Al-Kahf on Friday, it is a general practice that brings immense reward when done consistently, particularly in the morning. Making it part of your morning routine, perhaps after Fajr prayer, can set a beautiful tone for your entire day.

How to Read

Recite these words sincerely, with awareness of their profound meaning. The goal is to reach 100 repetitions, and you can use a tasbih (prayer beads) or your fingers to keep count. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us specific ways to remember Allah, and this dhikr is one of the most beloved and rewarding. Focus on the feeling of glorifying Allah, acknowledging His perfection, expressing gratitude, affirming His oneness, and recognizing His absolute power.

Virtues & Benefits

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ told us about the immense value of this dhikr. He said: > 'Whoever says: *SubhanAllah walhamdulillah wa la ilaha illallah wallahu akbar* (Glory be to Allah, and all praise is for Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest) one hundred times, Allah will forgive him one thousand sins.' This is a profound mercy from Allah. Imagine, a thousand sins wiped away for a simple act of remembrance! Furthermore, another narration states: > 'The uttering of 'SubhanAllah walhamdulillah wa la ilaha illallah wallahu akbar' is more beloved to me than all the things under the sun.' (Sahih Muslim 2695) This shows us how much Allah and His Messenger ﷺ love this specific remembrance. It's a powerful way to fill your scales with good deeds, to keep your heart connected to your Creator, and to receive His forgiveness.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'There are two phrases that are light on the tongue, but weigh heavily on the scales, and are beloved to the Most Gracious: *SubhanAllahi wa bi hamdihi, SubhanAllahi al-'Azim* (Glory be to Allah and praise be to Him, glory be to Allah the Almighty).' It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever says: *SubhanAllah walhamdulillah wa la ilaha illallah wallahu akbar* (Glory be to Allah, and all praise is for Allah, and there is no god but Allah, and Allah is the Greatest) one hundred times, Allah will forgive him one thousand sins.' It was narrated from Sa'd bin Abu Waqqas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'The uttering of 'SubhanAllah walhamdulillah wa la ilaha illallah wallahu akbar' is more beloved to me than all the things under the sun.'
