The Comprehensive Morning Dua for Worldly and Eternal Good

Morning Adhkar
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 973

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This dua is specifically recommended to be recited in the morning, after Fajr prayer, or as part of your morning remembrance (adhkar). It sets a beautiful intention for the day ahead, seeking blessings in all aspects of your life, both in this world and the next.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and focus. It's a direct supplication to Allah, so approach Him with humility and conviction. You can recite it once after your obligatory prayers or as part of your broader morning adhkār routine.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful supplication encompasses three vital pillars for a fulfilling life. Beneficial knowledge ('ilman naafi'an) guides us to what is right and helps us serve Allah better. Goodly provision (rizqan tayyiban) encompasses all forms of sustenance – wealth, health, family, and opportunities – that are pure and blessed. Acceptable deeds ('amalan mutaqabbalan) are those actions performed sincerely for Allah's sake, which He accepts and rewards. By asking for these three, we are essentially seeking the best of both worlds: the means to live a good life here and the provisions for success in the Hereafter.

Source & Authentication

Narrated Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say, when he had performed the morning prayer, the words: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.)
