O Allah, I ask You for wellbeing in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for pardon and wellbeing in my religious and worldly affairs, my family and my property. O Allah, conceal my faults and secure me from my anxieties. O Allah, protect me from before me and from behind me, from my right and from my left, and from above me, and I seek refuge in Your Magnificence from being overthrown from beneath me.
Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afiyata fid-dunya wal-akhirah. Allahumma inni as'alukal 'afwa wal 'afiyata fi dini wa dunyaya wa ahli wa mali. Allahumma-stur 'awrati wa amin raw'ati. Allahumma-hfadni min bayni yadayya wa min khalfi wa 'an yameeni wa 'an shimali wa min fawqi, wa a'udhu bi 'adhamatika an ughtala min tahti.
When to Read
This comprehensive dua is ideally recited after the Fajr (morning) prayer, or at the start of your day. It's a powerful way to begin, asking Allah for protection, peace, and complete wellbeing before facing the day's challenges.
How to Read
Recite this with sincerity and presence of heart. Understand the immense scope of what you are asking Allah for – not just physical health, but spiritual and mental well-being, protection from harm in all forms, and contentment in your deen and dunya. It's about seeking comprehensive 'afiyah, which encompasses far more than just physical health.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is incredibly comprehensive. 'Afiyah (wellbeing) is a state of being free from any illness, hardship, or affliction, both in this life and the next. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to ask for it because it is one of the most beloved supplications to Allah. When 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) saw someone asking Allah for trials, he told him: 'You have not been given the best except that you should ask Allah for 'afiyah.' (Sahih al-Bukhari 6306, Sunan an-Nasa'i 5518). Asking for 'afiyah is asking for everything good, and seeking refuge in Allah is seeking protection from everything bad.
