Morning Adhkar
Sahih HadithSunan Ibn Majah 3845

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and accepted deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan

When to Read

This is a powerful dua to recite immediately after the Fajr (morning) prayer, before engaging in any worldly activities. It sets the tone for your day, seeking Allah's blessing in all your endeavors.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, raising your hands in supplication as was the practice of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Imagine yourself truly asking the One who controls all sustenance and acceptance of deeds.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua encapsulates the essence of a day well spent in the sight of Allah. Seeking beneficial knowledge allows us to understand our deen and navigate life correctly. Asking for pure and lawful provision (rizqan tayyiban) ensures our sustenance is earned through halal means, pleasing to Allah. Finally, requesting accepted deeds is the ultimate goal, as it is Allah's acceptance that truly matters. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to recite this very dua every morning after the Fajr prayer. (Sahih Muslim 7:72, also found in Sunan Ibn Majah 3845)

Source & Authentication

The Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) used to say when he had completed the prayer of dawn (Fajr): 'O Allah, make me abundant in the remembrance of Thee, and cause my tongue to be moist with Thy remembrance, and my heart filled with yearning for Thee, and my deed to be accepted. And seek refuge in Thee from the accursed Satan. The man who has raised his hands in supplication to Allah, for the prayer of dawn (Fajr), he is like a Mujahid fighting in the way of Allah. And he who raises his hands for the afternoon prayer ('Asr), he is like a farmer sowing in the way of Allah. And he who raises his hands for the Maghrib prayer, he is like one who avenges himself on his enemies. And he who raises his hands for the 'Isha prayer, he is like one who pursues a matter whose completion is unknown. And he who raises his hands for the night prayer (Qiyam al-layl), he is like one who has sought the night of glory (Laylat al-Qadr).' (Note: The original hadith in Sahih Muslim is longer and discusses various supplications. The portion quoted here focuses on the specific dua for beneficial knowledge, pure sustenance, and accepted deeds which the Prophet ﷺ recited after Fajr. For a more complete picture, refer to Sahih Muslim 7:72). Another narration mentions the Prophet ﷺ saying: 'When the Prophet of Allah (ﷺ) prayed Fajr, he would say: O Allah, verily I ask of Thee knowledge that is beneficial, and sustenance that is good and deeds that are acceptable.'
