Virtues & Benefits
Reciting this dua in the morning, as taught by our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, is a direct plea for divine assistance in navigating life's journey with purpose and integrity. ' 'Seeking 'beneficial knowledge' means asking for knowledge that not only enlightens the mind but also guides the heart and actions towards what is pleasing to Allah. ' 'Asking for 'goodly provision' (rizqan tayyiban) is a request for sustenance that is pure, lawful, and sufficient, free from ill-gotten gains or anything that would displease Allah. ' 'Finally, asking for 'accepted deeds' is perhaps the most crucial part. We can strive to do good, but only Allah accepts our efforts. This plea acknowledges our dependence on His grace for our worship and good works to be truly valuable in His sight.
