أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.
A'udhu bikalimatillahit-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
When to Read
This powerful dua is part of the morning adhkar (remembrances). It's meant to be recited after Fajr prayer, as the day begins, to seek Allah's protection. Reciting it means you are entrusting your well-being for the entire day to Allah, asking Him to shield you from any harm, seen or unseen, including the malevolent effects of the evil eye.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, believing in Allah's power to protect you. It is recommended to recite it three times in the morning. Visualize Allah's protection enveloping you as you speak the words. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to seek refuge in Allah, so ensure your heart is attentive to the meaning and the request you are making.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a potent shield against various forms of evil, including the envious gaze of the evil eye (al-'ayn). When the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was asked about what repels the evil eye, he mentioned seeking refuge in Allah. By reciting this, you are invoking Allah's complete protection, based on His perfect and all-encompassing words. It reminds us that true safety comes only from our Creator, not from amulets or superstitions. It fosters reliance on Allah and reminds us that He is the ultimate protector against all ills. (See explanation of the evil eye's effects and the importance of seeking refuge in Islamic texts like those discussing Adhkar).

Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: 'The evil eye has affected me.' The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: 'Why do you take a bath for him, i.e., the person affected by the evil eye?' Then he commanded him to take a bath (by washing the private parts, the waist, the front and the back of the thigh and inside his lower garment) and wash the affected part of his body with water and milk and sprinkle it on him, and that would take away the evil effect from him. In another narration, when the Prophet (peace be upon him) was asked about the evil eye, he said: 'A man takes his brother's life.' Someone asked: 'Should we not guard ourselves against them (the evil eye)?' He said: 'Yes, seek refuge in Allah from it, as the camel driver avoids the evil eye of the camel (when it is afraid of kicking).' When he asked about the evil eye, he said: 'A man takes his brother's life.' Someone asked: 'Should we not guard ourselves against them (the evil eye)?' He said: 'Yes, seek refuge in Allah from it, for indeed it is a reality (true).' He (the narrator) said: 'When any one of you is given a drink of milk, let him say: O Allah, bless it for us and give us more of it. And when he is clothed by what he is clothed with, let him say: O Allah, wear it (the garment) well and let him wear it well, and ask for its fullness of its fullness. And when he is writing something, let him say: O Allah, make it (pen) straight and make the ink flow well and let him write.' Another narration states that when the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to seek refuge (from evil), he used to say: O Allah, I seek refuge in Your perfect words from every devil and every poisonous thing and from every evil eye. (Sahih Muslim 2107a)
