Morning Dua for Protection Against Lingering Doubts

Morning Adhkar
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 5088

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my hearing, and the evil of my sight, and the evil of my tongue, and the evil of my heart, and the evil of my semen.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min sharri sam'i, wa min sharri basari, wa min sharri lisani, wa min sharri qalbi, wa min sharri maniyyi

When to Read

This dua should be recited in the morning, after Fajr prayer, as part of your daily Adhkar. The morning is a time when Shaytan is particularly active in whispering doubts and misgivings. Seeking refuge in Allah at this time sets a spiritual shield for the entire day.

How to Read

Recite this supplication with sincerity and conviction, focusing on the meaning of each phrase. Visualize yourself entrusting your hearing, sight, tongue, heart, and reproductive organ to Allah's protection. It's best recited before engaging with the day's activities, ideally after completing your morning prayers and other established Adhkar.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua encompasses seeking protection from various forms of internal and external harm. By asking Allah to shield our senses (hearing, sight), our speech (tongue), our inner being (heart), and our desires (semen), we are seeking comprehensive protection. Lingering doubts often stem from what we hear, what we see, what we speak, or even the stirrings within our hearts. Shielding these areas helps prevent misguidance and protects us from the whispers of Shaytan that can lead to uncertainty and anxiety about our faith or actions.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) used to say: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the evil of my hearing, and the evil of my sight, and the evil of my tongue, and the evil of my heart, and the evil of my semen." (Sunan Abi Dawud, Hadith Hasan 5088). The term 'maniyyi' refers to semen, and seeking refuge from its evil is understood in the context of protecting oneself from unlawful sexual desires and their consequences, as well as from any potential harm or impurity associated with it.
