Morning Dua for Barakah and Protection

Morning Adhkar
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 772

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This beautiful supplication is best recited in the morning, after Fajr prayer, or just as you are beginning your day's activities. It's a powerful way to set the intention for the day, asking Allah for blessings in the very core aspects of our existence: our knowledge, our livelihood, and our actions.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and conviction, raising your hands slightly if possible, as is customary with many supplications. Imagine Allah (SWT) hearing your plea and granting you what you ask for. The intention behind the words is key – asking for knowledge that benefits, sustenance that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by our Creator.

Virtues & Benefits

This dua encompasses three fundamental pillars for a successful life, both in this world and the next. Asking for beneficial knowledge helps us understand our deen and navigate life's challenges wisely. Seeking pure provision ensures our sustenance is lawful and brings peace to our hearts. Requesting acceptable deeds means that our efforts in worship and in serving others are acknowledged and rewarded by Allah. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this dua to Ummu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) as a morning supplication, highlighting its immense value for starting the day with divine favor.

Source & Authentication

The wife of the Prophet ﷺ, Ummu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), reported that when the Prophet ﷺ would greet the morning, he would say: 'Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman naafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.' (O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, pure provision, and acceptable deeds.) — Reported by Ummu Salamah, Sahih Muslim 772.
