โœฆ

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, and I seek refuge in You from helplessness and laziness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice and stinginess, and I seek refuge in You from the burden of debt and from being overpowered by men.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-hazani, wa a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasali, wa a'udhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhli, wa a'udhu bika min ghalabatid-dayni wa qahrir-rijali.

When to Read

This powerful dua is a cornerstone of the morning supplications (adhkar). It's meant to be recited after Fajr prayer, as part of the general remembrance of Allah that sets the tone for the day. By seeking refuge in Allah right at the start of our day, we're essentially asking Him to shield us from the mental and emotional burdens that can creep in and derail our focus and peace.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincerity and a focused heart after completing the Fajr prayer. Imagine each phrase as a shield being raised against potential worries, laziness, fear, or any external pressures. Raising your hands slightly can be part of the posture, as is common in supplication. The key is the conviction that Allah is the only one who can truly protect you.

Virtues & Benefits

This supplication is far-reaching in its protection. It shields you from: - **Anxiety and Sorrow (Ham and Huzn):** Protecting the mind from intrusive negative thoughts and a heavy heart. - **Helplessness and Laziness ('Ajz and Kasal):** Empowering you with the drive and ability to face the day's tasks. - **Cowardice and Stinginess (Jubn and Bukhl):** Cultivating courage and generosity in your character. - **Debt and Being Overpowered (Dayn and Qahr ar-Rijal):** Seeking financial stability and resilience against oppression or undue influence. By reciting this, you are entrusting your day to Allah, seeking His strength and His protection against a wide spectrum of afflictions, both internal and external.
