Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, what have I encountered from the scorpion that stung me last night?' He said: 'If you had said when you entered the evening: > **Arabic:** أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ > > **Translation:** 'I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created,' > > it would not have harmed you.' (Sahih Muslim 2708). While this hadith specifically mentions protection from a scorpion's sting, the general wording 'from the evil of what He has created' makes it applicable to seeking refuge from all types of harm and evil, including the potential negative influences associated with looking in a mirror.
