اللَّهُمَّ أَحْسَنْتَ خَلْقِي فَأَحْسِنْ خُلُقِي
O Allah, You have made my form beautiful, so make my character beautiful.
Allahumma ahsanta khalqi fa ahsin khuluqi
When to Read
This beautiful dua is often recited when looking in the mirror. It's a perfect reminder to focus on our inner self, our character and actions, rather than solely on our external appearance. As we see our reflection, we can ask Allah to perfect not just our outward form, which He has already done, but our inner state as well.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and mindfulness, ideally while looking at your reflection. Pause to consider the meaning: Allah has already blessed you with a physical form, now ask Him to adorn you with good manners and noble character. Let it be a moment of gratitude and a sincere plea for inner refinement.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua shifts our focus from the transient nature of physical beauty to the enduring beauty of character. It reminds us that true worth in the sight of Allah is based on piety and good deeds (Quran 49:13). By asking Allah to improve our character, we are striving for a higher purpose, seeking a reflection of our faith in our actions and interactions, which pleases Allah far more than any outward adornment.
