Looking in Mirror
Hasan HadithSunan Abi Dawud 1540

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the decline of Your favors, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all of Your displeasure. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the destruction of calamities, the loss of strength, the extremity of trials, and the rejoicing of enemies. O Allah, I ask You for patience during trials, and I ask You for gratitude during ease, and I ask You for everlasting bliss, and I ask You for a joy of the eye that never ceases. And I ask You for contentment after the decree, and the life of the prosperous, and everlasting blessings. And I ask You for contentment with destiny, and life after death, and the pleasure of looking at Your Face, and longing to meet You, without hardship causing harm, or misguiding trials. O Allah, adorn us with the adornment of faith, and make us guides who are guided.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa fuji'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min hadmi al-hawadith, wa fuqdi al-ba's, wa ghayati al-bala', wa shamatati al-a'da'. Allahumma inni as'aluka sabran fi al-bala', wa as'aluka shukran 'inda al-rakha', wa as'aluka na'iman la yanfadu, wa as'aluka qurrata 'aynin la tanqati', wa as'aluka al-rida ba'da al-qada', wa as'aluka 'aysh al-su'ada', wa al-na'im al-muqim, wa as'aluka al-rida bil-qadar, wa al-'aysh ba'da al-mawt, wa ladhdhat al-nazar ila Wajhik, wa shawqan ila Liqa'ik, fi ghayri darra'a mudhirratin, wa la fitnatin mudhillatin. Allahumma zayyinna bi-zinati al-iman, waj'alna hudatan muhtadin.

Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: When the Prophet (peace be upon him) would perform the ablution, he would wipe his face with his hands, and when he performed the ablution for the legs, he would wipe them with his hands. Then he would say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the decline of Your favors, the change of Your protection, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all of Your displeasure. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the destruction of calamities, the loss of strength, the extremity of trials, and the rejoicing of enemies.
